Wanna be the coolest kid at the next convention? Well, while I can’t promise that… one of my custom Game Boy Color cartridge badges sure won’t hurt your chances!

These badges are real cartridges that work on the Game Boy Color (as well as the GBA, or anything else that plays GBC cartridges). Display it on your lanyard with the included attachment, and when the other (less) cool kids gather around to admire it — slot it right into your game boy and it’ll boot up the customized rom! Let their jealousy wash over you.

DETAILS

The rom includes two screens; headshot and full body, both include blinking animations and looping background music. Each screen has three function buttons to display character info, custom QR codes, and two clothing accessories or small objects held in a paw! You can even press SELECT to make them meow / bark / meep / roar! How cute is that? The answer is very. The cartridge shells come in a choice of about 20 colors, includes a protective plastic case, and extra label stickers. There is even an NFC tag inside the cartridge that when tapped with a phone brings up a link of your choice.

Cartridges are made with high quality parts. I use custom purple PCBs I had created by an amazing Australian company. I also print and cut the labels myself, and assemble everything by hand.

You will also get your own page on my website so that the badge can be played in-browser on desktop and mobile (this page can be made password protected). Head over to the game section of my site to test out a badge for yourself!

Add-ons are available after purchasing the badge commission. These include things like multiple copies, alternate versions, display cases/stands, rush requests, etc.

RESTRICTIONS

• Badges take around 6-8 weeks to complete, faster turnaround (2-3 weeks) can be requested after ordering for a $50 rush fee.
• Complicated character designs may need to be simplified and colors may not be able to be displayed 100% accurately due to the limitations of game boys and the engine itself.
• Some accessories/small objects may not be possible to make due to aforementioned limitations, but I will try my best to make your vision come to life!
• Mammal characters only, please. The only mammals I can’t make are equines or bovines. Any other hoofed animal will be translated into paws as shown in the examples. Antlers/horns/tusks are okay. Wings may not be possible.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

After checking out, you will receive an email that has a link to a google form that contains questions for all of the information I need to complete the badge. This is not necessary to do immediately, but please fill it out within 48hrs of ordering a badge. I will message you after you have the form filled out and will be contact with you throughout the entire creation process.
